Hunger Regulation
The signals that say when to start eating (hunger) and when to stop (fullness). They're meant to track real energy need, but energy-dense, hyperpalatable modern foods blunt fullness and provoke eating beyond need — so curbing hunger is often the goal for weight loss, while restoring it matters for anyone underweight, ill, or undernourished. Below, ↑ means the item raises appetite and ↓ means it lowers appetite; neither is inherently good — which helps depends on your direction of need.
(↑) raises appetite · (↓) lowers appetite — neither is inherently good; it depends on whether you need to gain or lose.
