Abstract
Essential facts About 200,000 people in the UK have ankylosing spondylitis, and there are around 2,300 new diagnoses each year in England and Wales. A form of arthritis, the chronic condition causes inflammation in the spine and other areas of the body. It is about three times more common in men than in women.
